British retailer John Lewis has reported an increase of 13.3 per cent in its departmental store sales for the week ended October 10 as compared with the same period of 2008.
Sales at John Lewis twenty-eight department stores jumped to settle at £55.4 million during the concerned week.
Fashion continued to give robust performance. Fashion sales jumped by 17.8 per cent, while electricals along with home technology soared by 13.2 per cent.
In earlier three weeks, the retailer witnessed a rise of 6.3 per cent, 4.7 per cent and 6.6 per cent in sales, respectively.
In addition, John Lewis’ Waitrose supermarket chain reported a jump of 14.8 per cent in its sales to settle at £84.7 million.
First week of Christmas goods being on sale also backed John Lewis’ performance.
