Facebook revamps homepage with “News Feed” and “Live Feed” tabs

In an attempt that Facebook says would make the Facebook experience a more “valuable” one for its users, the company yet again revamped its homepage on Friday.

With the latest changes including dual-view news feed on the homepage and the doing away of the “Highlights” section, a “real-time” stream offers immediate access to current updates, and a summary view reveals the “most interesting” incident in the last 24 hours.

The incorporation of the new changes implies that the users, upon signing into their accounts, can now select the viewing of either the “News Feed” tab or the “Live Feed” tab option. While the former will display the most recent feature items; the latter will list the updates pertaining to the users’ friends.

Elaborating on the “News Feed” tab in its blog post, Facebook said that the option “picks stories that we think you'll enjoy based on a variety of factors including how many friends have liked and commented on it and how likely you are to interact with that story.” Moreover, Facebook has also added information like photo tagging, page fan updates, and RSVP events.

Noting that the latest changes have been released after their due testing, Facebook developer Raylene Yung said: “We know it can be disruptive when things are moved around, but we hope that these changes make Facebook a more valuable experience for you.”
