If sources are to be believed, automobile giant General Motors' Wilmington, Delaware plant might be functioning again, but under a different guise. As America's Vice President Joe Biden sets into motion his plans of visiting the closed plant on Tuesday, it is likely that he will be announcing its reopening as a platform for building of plug-in hybrid electric cars.
Fisker Automotive Inc. and GM have reached a deal under which the former, a major California based venture capital firm, will buy the currently non functional plant which was earlier used as an assembly unit, and use it for the manufacture of the aforementioned hybrid cars.
The announcement, which is planned for Tuesday, 10 A. M. EDT (14:00 GMT), will be attended by Chief Executive and Founder of the California firm, Henrik Fisker, as well. Delaware is Biden's home state and his arrival is being eagerly awaited.
