Internet search giant Google has launched its 'Promoted Video' advertising service - built on its AdWords platform - for the YouTube users in Australia, Japan and some European countries. The users will have to pay a certain charge to avail the opportunity of promoting their videos on the YouTube site.
The service has been priced on a Cost-per-Click (CPC) basis for defined keywords, and the bid of the advertisers, for the purpose of priority and listings, will depend on their respective CPC offers and relevance to each search inquiry.
Referring to the new promotional service, which Google says is based on its 'democratic' values, YouTube product manager Jay Akkad specified that the range of the service will be wide enough to target individuals looking to pay $5 per day, as well as corporations that can spend over $10,000.
Noting YouTube's wide audience and the fact that there are nearly 20 hours of video uploaded to the site every minute per day, Akkad said: "There are many great examples on YouTube. The content has to be compelling. If you move away from TV ads, there are real opportunities to engage with users and be more flexible with time."
Akkad further said that the recent extension of the service to some countries comes after the service has been found to be 'very successful' in the US ever since its November last year launch.
