Existing Apple TV owners can now avail Apple’s newest ‘free’ software – an upgraded ‘version 3.0,’ which boasts an overhauled user interface, along with iTunes Extras, iTunes LP, Genius mixes, and Internet radio.
The Thursday-released new Apple TV software, which is now available for download, features a spruced up menu that the company expects would facilitate the users’ access to the content of their choice.
Using the new iTunes Extras feature, the users can access special features such as deleted scenes and cast interviews in different movies in the iTunes Store; and the iTunes LP addition enables users to watch particular songs-related offerings like performance videos and interactive lyrics, among others.
The Genius Mixes feature allows users to access a playlist of songs, configured by Apple, upon their selection of a specific song. According to the company, as many as 12 endless mixes can be supported by version 3.0.
Meanwhile, the new Internet radio option allows the Apple TV users to access a huge number of Internet radio stations, along with allowing them the benefit of tagging a favorite station and listening later.
In a statement pertaining to the new additions that are a part of the ‘version 3.0’ software, Eddy Cue, Apple's VP of Internet Services, said: “The new software for Apple TV features a simpler and faster interface that gives you instant access to your favorite content.”
