According to recent figures shared by experts, the number of child obesity cases is slowly dwindling in England. A condition which was earlier considered to be on a rapid rise, now seems to be under control.
National Heart Forum experts have, after a detailed look and analysis at the earlier figures forecast with regards to the level of children being overweight and obese by 2020, have revealed that there has been significant change, and the earlier predicted figures have come now come down. The new forecast shows that by 2020 about 30% of boys from the 2-11 years age group are expected to be overweight or obese, in contrast to the earlier figure of 42%.
Levels of overweight and obesity in girls of the 2-11 age group have also been revised. Earlier forecast figure of 48% now stands at 27%. The revised forecast also shows a drop in the number of obese and overweight individuals in the 12-19 year old group.
Despite the good news, authority figures are quick to assert that child obesity levels in the country are still too high. The Government's Change4Life campaign will now work towards ensuring that the levels of obesity and overweight in children goes even further down in the coming times.
