52% Profit for Third Quarter Reported by Quebecor

Quebecor CEO

One of Canada's largest and top ranked media firms, Quebecor Inc., posted a much better than expected third quarter report with a 52% increase in earnings as compared to last year. The lack of competition in the telecom sector is being viewed as the major reason for Quebecor's outstanding performance, coupled with better sales and a recovering economy.

For the period for July-September for the current year, the company's revenue saw a $10.3 Million rise, or a rise of 1.1%. Operating income for the firm saw an increase of $23.6 Million, or 8.5%. Net earnings increased $23.7 Million to $69.4 Million, or $1.08 per share, as compared to figures posted a year ago for the same period.

On the back of high profits and the fact that the company is all set to launch its advanced wireless network next year, Quebecor is optimistic about better results in the coming quarter as well as next year.
