Mexico's Wal-Mart de Mexico on Friday confirmed a 5.1% rise in same stores sales for the month of October, as compared to the same month last year. An extra Saturday and the fact that the store has managed to keep its prices low even in economically tough times have been credited by the firm as reasons for the rise.
The company, which is known as Walmex, also recorded a 0.2% surge in the average money that customers spent on every visit to one of the firm's stores or restaurants in October, leading the company to believe that the spending quotient is slowly improving.
The rise posted by Wal-Mart de Mexico has been more-or-less in tune with what the analysts polled by Reuters had estimated. The company has, lately, given customers the benefit of starting many low price campaigns and schemes, which seem to have paid off well. With the latest recorded rise, Walmex has managed to pull ahead of tough competition like Soriana and Commercial Mexicana. As per figures confirmed in October, Walmex, a unit of the American giant retailer Wal-Mart, has a total of 1,363 outlets all over Mexico.
