$30 Billion Valuation of NBA Universal Agreed Upon by GE and Comcast
Comcast, General Electric, NBC Universal

Moving one step closer to a deal which, once closed, would give Comcast a 51% stake in NBC Universal, which is currently owned in majority by General Electric, GE and Comcast on Sunday agreed to value the NBC division at around $30 Billion.

For some time now, GE and Comcast have been in talks about GE's sale of the 80% NBC Universal stake it owns. Once the deal is closed, GE would hold a 49% stake in the company making Comcast the majority holder. However, the French media firm Vivendi, currently a holder of 20% of NBC Universal's stake, is not agreeing to the deal and in order for it to progress smoothly, it is important the Vivendi agrees to sell its share of stake as well.

With GE and Comcast now agreeing on how the NBC Universal unit that GE holds would be valued, getting Vivendi to agree seems to be the next step. Although Vivendi is ready to sell, the company is not too keen on the current valuation being offered and is in talks with GE.

Neither GE, nor Comcast have commented on the development so far. Vivendi has also been unresponsive and has decided to keep quiet for the time being.
