14 Million Defective Phone Chargers Recalled by Nokia

Nokia Charger

Giant manufacturer of mobile phones, Nokia Inc., is recalling as many as 14 million phone chargers which are believed to be defective. There have also been warnings issued that these charges could cause an electric shock.

The chargers, which were manufactured externally by a Chinese supplier BYD, are being replaced as a "precautionary measure". The Finish company has said that no injuries have, however, been reported so far. Three models are a part of the recall - the AC-3E, AC-3U and AC-4U. These were manufactured between June 15 and August 9 (first two) and April 13 and October 25 (third model) and were distributed globally.

In recent times, this has been the second major recall by Nokia. 2007 saw the company replace as many as 46 million batteries all over the world after the units seemed to overheat. BYD, as confirmed by Nokia, would be responsible for covering all costs for the replacement of the chargers.

The Nokia phone charger recall has made its place in the list of current times' biggest recalls.
