Microsoft announces the availability of Forefront Protection 2010

Microsoft

At its TechEd Europe conference in Berlin on Monday, Microsoft announced the availability of its new Forefront Protection 2010 antimalware for Exchange; and the Forefront Online Protection for Exchange, especially designed for enterprise customers who desire Microsoft to host the security solution.

The announcements come just prior to this-week-scheduled launch of Exchange 2010, which is the latest version of the Microsoft e-mail and communications server.

Talking about the availability of the Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange, Joel Sider, Microsoft’s Senior Project Manager of Infrastructure division, said that the antimalware integrates malware engines from Microsoft and its other partners. It is nearly 38 times faster at detecting malware; and can reduce spam to such an extent that only one out of 250,000 spam messages can get through.

With the Exchange Server 2010’s addition of integrated e-mail archiving, better cohesive messaging support, and extended search capability, the antimalware’s assimilation with Exchange further gives the users the ability to scan messages and documents at the same time.

Sider further said that the built-in information protection with Active Directory rights management services allows users and IT administrators to exercise a greater control over function of e-mails and documents as well as their end-receiver.

All the constituents of the Forefront Protection suite, officially code-named ‘Stirling,’ will be rolled out by Microsoft in 2010.
