An organization called 'Control Your Info' having reportedly taken control of hundreds of Facebook groups. However, the supposedly well-meaning intruders have asserted they come in peace; and, by having brought some Facebook groups under attack, they want to draw users' attention a flaw in the way group administration is handled by Facebook.
Though the exact number of groups that have been taken under control has not been disclosed, a message that the intruding organization put across to the members of one of the groups under attack went thus: "Think about the safety in your social media life to the same extent you do in your real life."
The group came under attack after its administrator stepped down from the position, and left a notable power void at the top; thereby enabling the 'Control Your Info' organization to take over the group.
Noting that anyone can take over a group in such a manner, the organization representative Janis Roukkos wrote that, upon getting control, the intruder can view the personal information of the members; and alter group information to suit his/her whims.
Meanwhile, promising that the organization will not "mess anything up" in the group information, Roukkos wrote that the controlled group will restore the group name - which it has changed - and leave the group "by the end of next week."
