In June, Google had announced its endeavor to develop and release an operating system for notebooks, netbooks and smartbooks - the Google Chrome Operating System. Since then, the web search engine giant's creation is being eagerly awaited. The wait might end very soon now. Speculations are that the release of the Chrome OS is imminent, and might just happen within 7 days.
All throughout Google's Chrome OS development project, the company had been working with Acer, Adobe, ASUS, Freescale, HP, Lenovo, Qualcomm, TI and Toshiba so there are good chances that much of the driver development has been left to hardware manufacturers, which has led to speculations that the initial version of the OS might just work on a handful of machines.
With the launch day for the operating system inching closer, experts are of the opinion that more and more people will want to switch over to the Chrome operating system. As for the speculated problem of many systems encountering compatibility issues, Google is sure to bring in improved versions as the platform matures.
