Rolls Royce and Air China Close $1.5 Billion Deal for New Engines

In new developments which are come as much delightful news for British engine maker Rolls Royce in the current financially difficult times, the company has recorded a major boost to its order book after winning two multi-million dollar deals with both Air China and Ethiopian Airlines. The company shook on a $1.5 Billion deal with Air China to power its 20 aircrafts, and a $480 Million deal with Ethiopian Airlines to power 12 of its Airbus A350 XWB planes.

Air China planes, which will be delivered to the company starting 2011, will have the Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines at their core, while Ethiopian Airlines will be requiring Trent XWB engines for its Airbuses which are expected to enter into service starting 2017.

Rolls Royce has shared that its Trent range of engines are the most fuel efficient and environmentally sensitive airplane engines currently available, with a 28% higher fuel efficiency rating compared to the earlier models.

As end of June for the current year, Rolls Royce's order book stood at ?57.5 Billion, with the aerospace sector accounting for orders worth nearly ?46.7 Billion.
