The Exilim EX-G1 - that is the new, ultra-thin, ultra-tough, "world's slimmest shock-resistant digital camera" announced by Casio on Wednesday! As per the company, the high-resolution 12.1- megapixel point-and-shoot camera is ultra-rugged - its "endurance" feature making it a perfect buy for adventurers and top athletes.

The company said that the shock-, cold-, dust-, drop- and waterproof EX-G1, priced at $300, will hit the stores next month. The camera can not only survive multiple seven-foot drops as well as
60-minute submersion in 10-foot-deep water, but can also shoot still pictures despite a high-speed movement of the photographer.

Along with featuring a thick, pressure-resistant, 2.5-inch LCD and a 3X optical, nonextending zoom, the EX-G1 also boasts of 'interval shooting' and 'multi-image capture' modes. The interval shooting mode involves the automatic clicking of still photos or movies at fixed intervals; thereby enabling users to capture photographs while undertaking activities like cycling and snowboarding.

About the forthcoming EX-G1 camera, which will be available in red or black, Casio said that it has shock-resistant shell; and a two-layered construction with a stainless steel casing on the outside. While the inner body of the EX-G1 can withstand shock and water damage; a resin cover shields the body side close to the shutter, while a resin lens ring provides the requisite protection to the lens.
