Sony Expecting 3D TVs to Make up for 50% of Shipments in 2012-13

Japan's electronics giant Sony Crop. has shared that looking at the current trends, the company is expecting 3D television to make up for at least 50% of total shipment of televisions for the
2012-13 fiscal year, as was recently shared by Executive Deputy President Hiroshi Yoshioka. He also confirmed that Sony was currently in talks with some major companies over the supply of lithium-ion batteries for automobiles. No more, however, were specified by him.

Pinning all its hopes on these next generation TVs to boost sales, Sony has plans of unveiling its range of 3D televisions as early as next year. Last week the Japanese company had shared that it is aiming for over 1 Trillion Yen worth of sales of its 3D related products for the 2012-13 financial year.

Sony is currently in bad shape, with 6 consecutive years of losses. It has been struggling with intense competition from the likes of Samsung and LG, both of which are non Japanese, and an ever strengthening Yen.

For the coming years, in order to survive and grow, the company is looking at many new launches and pinning all its hopes on its next generation gadgets which include televisions, displays, personal computers, mobile handsets, and much more.
