Going by the rumors making round about the supposed ‘Google phone,’ Nexus One, it appears highly unlikely that the smartphone will be widely adopted by business users!
With Microsoft e-mail support evidently necessary for a handset to become a business best-seller, the rumored lack of good support for Microsoft Outlook users would prove to be a handicap for Google’s Nexus One; more so because they played a substantial role in BlackBerry’s enterprise and SMB success.
Moreover, even in case the Nexus One is optimized for business users, it will correspond only to Google Apps and other Google services.
As per the buzz, there will apparently be two versions of the Nexus One - an unlocked version online and a US domestic version that would work with the T-Mobile network. In all likelihood, the unlocked Nexus One handsets will largely cater to the international markets.
Within the US, the phone will probably be sold by T-Mobile just like every other phone – thereby implying that it will entail a carrier subsidy.
However, the biggest plus of the Nexus One is probably be the fact that since Google is fully committed to carbon neutrality, the Nexus One would be closely integrated with Google’s Android OS, and would boast the company’s complete overall supervision during the phone’s manufacturing process.
