Going by an exclusive e-book arrangement announced on Monday between business author Stephen Covey and Amazon.com, Covey’s ‘The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People’ and ‘Principle-Centered Leadership’ will be exclusively available at Amazon’s Kindle Store for $7.99 each.
First published in 1989, Covey’s ‘The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People,’ which is a popular book teaching students the value of “win-win” situations in personal lives as well as businesses, is listed among Amazon’s top 300 bestsellers. The book has successfully initiated several related titles and a paper and electronic planner business.
However, it is for the first time that the ‘7 Habits’ and ‘Principle-centered Leadership’ titles are being made available as e-books.
As per the Covey-Amazon deal information forwarded by the Covey’s representative, a FranklinCovey Co. spokeswoman, the author’s e-book-sales deal with Amazon is initially for a one-year period; however, it could possibly be extended “beyond a year.”
The spokeswoman further confirmed that ‘Today, Great Work, Great Career’ – a book co-authored by Covey and published by FranklinCovey - will also be available exclusively as an e-book via Amazon.
Noting that Covey’s most Amazon-partnership move will likely set a trend, Mike Shatzkin, chief executive of Idea Logical Co., a consulting firm on digital publishing for book and journal publishers, said: “A lot more authors will do this, yes. You can expect Covey's move to be imitated.”
