Jay Sullivan at Mozilla, the group behind Firefox, and Head of the mobile browser project, has recently confirmed that the first ever mobile version of the most popular web browser is "days away from launch".
Being called Fennec for now, the mobile version of Firefox will first be made available for users of Nokia's N900 mobile device, and later, accessibility through other handsets will follow.
Currently, as confirmed by Mr. Sullivan, the project is going through its final testing phase and could be released before the end of the year. An open-source browser, users will be able to synchronize Fennec with the desktop version.
"At the end of the working day you can walk away from your computer and keep on going on your phone. It encrypts all of the information and sends it back through the cloud between your desktop and mobile", said Mr. Sullivan.
iPhone users, however, will have to wait much longer than other mobile device users to access the mobile version of Firefox. "Apple is very restrictive. It doesn't allow other browser. As it's a pretty closed platform we don't see that happening soon", the Project Head shared.
