Records have confirmed that the domain iSlate. com has been under Apple's ownership since 2007, suggesting that this could be a possible name for the company's widely rumored tablet device.
MacRumors has gone ahead and discovered that for over 2 years now, iSlate, com has been Apple's property, and it was registered through MarkMonitor, the high profile domain registrar and trademark protection service, that has been handling domains for giants such as Google, Apple and Yahoo.
For several weeks in late 2007, Apple's ownership was displayed for the domain, but the owner's name was quickly reverted back to MarkMonitor. As of now, however, the domain points to no website.
Bill Keller, Executive Editor of the New York Times had, in October, mentioned an "impending Apple Slate" during a presentation, further fueling speculations that a device might be on its way.
Rumors of a tablet device by Apple have been floating around for several years now, but during 2009, these have reached a new level, with many expecting the product to be launched in early
2010.
