American Airlines Being Closely Watched by FAA after 3 Mishaps

American Airlines

After recording three mishaps over the last month alone, the Federal Aviation Administration is continually increasing its oversight of American Airlines.

During two landings, Jetliners' wingtips dangerously touched the grounds. One of these landings happened in Charlotte, North Carolina on December 13, and the other took place in Austin Texas, on December 24.

Another mishap happened in Jamaica when a place overshot the runway when the vision was marred by heavy rain. This happened on December 22.

In a statement released on Friday, FAA officials shared that they are now seriously looking to conduct a major review of the mishaps to ensure that there is no larger issue at play here. If needed, the FAA said, it would work with the carrier on corrective action.

American, which is a division of Fort Worth, Texas-based AMR Corp., released a statement from its own end on Friday which clarified that the firm is completely cooperating with the FAA and also conducting its own investigations.
