On Thursday, NBC Television shared that it is putting in the best effort to boost rating for Jay Leno's new prime-time broadcast, an announcement which has come amidst various internet reports which are speculating that the network might terminate the show or push it back to a late-night lineup.
Concerns about Leno's future at the General Electric Co-owned network starting making rounds a mere four months after the popular "The Tonight Show" host started to launch his own weeknight program, which relayed at 10 PM, in first such move of this kind in the history of American television.
But NBC, it seems, has been put under increasing pressure to re-look the switch as associated stations complained of a sharp fall in the "lead-in" audience for their 11 PM local newscast from the 10 PM slot that was occupied by "The Jay Leno Show" since September 2009.
"Jay Leno is one of the most compelling entertainers in the world today. As we have said all along, Jay's show has performed exactly as we anticipated on the network. It has, however, presented some issues for our affiliates. Both Jay and the show are committed to working closely with them to find ways to improve the performance", said NBC.
