Reports are speculating that Arite Lange was hospitalized earlier this week after he wounded himself with as many as 9 self-inflicted stabs in what appears to be a failed suicide attempt.

Reports are the troubled stand-up comedian and a regular on the “Howard Stern Show”, tried to take his own life over the weekend, and as confirmed by a law-enforcement source, he was discovered by his mother in his New York apartment on Saturday morning, who immediately proceeded to call 911.

He has been reported to have suffered "six hesitation wounds and three deep plunges".

The comic underwent surgery and the doctors managed to save him despite severe bleeding.

"We all have our demons. Artie has given this show tremendous moments of great comedy. He’s a tremendous contributor. He is a good man. Don’t forget how great he is", Howard Stern had said earlier this week while talking about Lange's drug addiction problem.

41 year old Lange had been absent from the radio show from a couple of weeks now, and had reportedly left on an indefinite hiatus earlier in December.
