Jim Carrey’s Latest ‘Yes Man’ Film Is One Big ‘No, No!’

We liked Jim Carrey and we continue to like him, but, despite being mellower these days, he's dated and still doing comedy routines from '90s, in times when comedy standards have been raised by the crackling wit of Steve Carell and Tina Fey. Rather, Jim Carrey reaching an uncomfortable point in his career, is simply too old to act in that weird Jim Carrey way.

HIs latest flick, 'Yes Man' is quaint, pitiable and as retro as turtleneck sweaters., without enough committed humour to support great slapstick, and of the humour there is, it's almost a decade old. The film pushes opening yourself up to life's experiences, if you want your life to burst into a shower of confetti and falling in love with very young, raspy-voiced, blue-eyed brunettes like Zooey Deschanel, specialists in deadpan (the other being Catherine Keener),. Though, jumping to Carrey's defence, one would hardly know of the huge age gap between the leading man and the lady, from Carrey's meticulously in place mane of chestnut hair.

But, despite all his failings, Carrey like Adam Sandler continues to churn out stinkers, both have a future. Thoug, only if he makes a really good biopic project like 'Man on the Moon', wherein he proved he was capable of reining in his reckless comedic talent to make a noteworthy film.

Anything good about 'Yes Man'?

Sure, a short cut of Terence Stamp, the lion-faced Brit, as a self-help guru responsible for converting Carrey into a Yes Man.

However, a script that gives him very little to work with, a 28-year old leading lady, who looks 23, as against Carrey's count of 46-years, who looks every minute of his age, standing next to the 28-year-old Deschanel, on top of it presenting him as though he were 32, things get pretty awkward. But, Rhys Darby, playing Carl's (Carrey) openhearted, incredibly geeky, Harry Potter-loving boss, gives us something to cheer about 'Yes Man'.

See the adult-rated, romantic comedy at your own peril!

Jim Carey's latest movie

Wow...people still pay money to see a Jim Carey movie? That money is better spent bailing out Detroit. Just goes to show that P.T Barnum was right...

Freudian?

"leading man and lay"? I think you mean "lady"...

Correction made. Thanks for pointing it.... Arun
