The very latest name to be added in the list of social networking portals is Blippy, which has emerged as the new frontier of social networks. It asks for the users' credit card numbers, bank information and any online shopping passwords that they have used.
Blippy has been released after a much hyped and publicized beta-testing phase, and it went live on Thursday. The portal gives users a way to share their "favorite purchases" with their friends.
After users give their credit or debit card numbers, Blippy automatically proceeds to post all transaction data, that can further be cross-posted to Twitter. With each post are listed the business where a purchase was made and how much money was spent.
In the comment area, more details can be shared.
The unique site already has over a thousand users who have signed up, as has been confirmed by the website, and Twitter CEO Evan Williams is reportedly one of the investors who have bought into the idea.
"In theory I would suggest people wouldn't be comfortable with it ... but the weird part about it is (Blippy) had an enormous interest in their beta and I'm not sure how to read that", said Mark Evans, a Toronto-based social media strategist.
