Copper University Hospital's Medical Team Joins Haiti Relief Efforts

Doctors from every corner of the world are flying in to Haiti, to help all victims affected by the fateful Tuesday earthquake which left millions dead and injured. And the latest team to hit the island was medical experts from the Copper University Hospital, who were all flown to the troubled nation in a private jet.

"We're going from luxury I've never known, to poverty I've never known - in 24 hours. From one extreme to the other. No one is entitled to one or the other. We're the same people in both places, but our surroundings change", said orthopaedic surgeon David Fuller, a part of the university's team offering to help the victimized.

Copper's relief mission, which will last for about 2 weeks, includes 8 professionals and over a dozen volunteers.

The team has set out to help a nation plagued with tragedy and fear, with the injured filling hospitals, dangerous criminals running about with the collapse of the central prison and scared and displaced people running towards the Dominican border.

"They are desperate, with nothing to lose", said airport transportation coordinator Jackie Hernandez.

The Copper team landed at the island with many boxes of lac kits to help the injured, large bags of antibiotics, water and just enough food to feed themselves.
