Assurant Accused of Targeting Policyholders after being Diagnosed with HIV

This, according to the records, was done with a computer program that pointed out every insurer detected with HIV.
Insurance firm actually Aims to Ditch HIV Clients

The company, now known as Assurant followed a policy of committing fraud investigation on policyholders who were diagnosed with HIV using a computer algorithm.

It has been revealed that a whopping 46 Million Americans are today living without any insurance, and over 9 Million of them are children. What would they do then in case they require urgent and expensive medical treatments? Nothing, I guess. They would most definitely not be able to afford it!

Nearly 24.3% of Californians Do Not have Health Insurance Coverage

According to the investigators from UCLA's Center for Health Policy Research, the number of uninsured people in the province rose to around 8.2 million in 2009, as compared to 6.2 million in 2007. Around 24.3% people aged 65 had no health insurance.
