Spanish yacht wins India-Singapore race

Singapore  - In a final dash to the finish, Spanish yacht Telefonica Blue late Monday night won the third leg of the round-the-world Volvo Ocean Race from Kochi, India to Singapore.

The winning yacht sped past early leader Sweden's Ericsson 4 to cross the finish line off Singapore at 9:51 pm (0251 GMT).

Hugo Sanchez appointed coach of struggling Almeria

Madrid  - Struggling Spanish Liga club Almeria announced the appointment of Mexican Hugo Sanchez as coach, shortly before midnight Monday.

Sanchez takes over from Gonzalo Arconada, sacked on Sunday with the club fifth from bottom.

Rondo, Celtics run over Knicks into the record books

Los Angeles - Speedy Rajon Rondo and the Boston Celtics raced into the record books by running their latest victims out of their house.

Rondo erupted for 18 of his 26 points in the third quarter, and the surging Celtics matched a franchise-record with their 18th straight victory, 124-105 over the visiting New York Knicks on Sunday night.

Quarterbacks again head NFL injury list

New York, Dec. 5 -- Eight quarterbacks were among the ailing when the injury report for the NFL's 14th week was released Friday afternoon.

The quarterbacks who will not play are Cincinnati's Carson Palmer (right elbow) and Detroit's Dan Orlovsky (right thumb). Buffalo's Trent Edwards (groin) and Seattle's Matt Hasselbeck (back) are listed as doubtful.
