Porsche to Introduce Range of Hybrids
The luxurious Porsche has entered into the Geneva Motor Show with the Porsche 918 plug-in Hybrid concept, which has come right after the 911 GT3 R Hybrid, all set to compete in the 24 hour race at the Nürburgring.
Although Porsche is carrying out the trial with hybrids, it does not seem to have any intention to compete against Prius market share.
The Porsche's super Hybrid could be named a plug-in version of the startling Carrera GT with a little dissimilarity. It puts together an electric drivetrain with V8 engine traced from the 3.4 liter V8 which is usually used in the Porscher RS Spyder race car.
Porsche asserts that the engine in the 918 generates over 500 horsepower at 9,200 rpm.
The 918 will essentially be offering four driving modes. While the Electric Drive is entirely electric and offers a range of nearly 16 miles, the Hybrid Mode, on the other hand, runs on the motors and engine similar to other hybrids, and the car provides 78 mpg. Sports Hybrid mode and Race Hybrid are also unique offerings in their own respect.
Porsche has started reviewing the 911 GT3 R Hybrid and it will soon be made ready for its racing debut at the 24 Hours on the Nürburgring between May 15 to May 16. Porsche revealed that the company's focus is not to win, but to introduce a new developed technology.
