Electronic Arts Spending More Money on Star Wars: The Old Republic

Electronic Arts is splurging more funds on the growth of Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO than it has ever disbursed on any game in the past.
Chief Financial Officer, Eric Brown at Janney Capital Markets' 2010 Consumer Conference, as listened in on by Gamasutra said that it is the biggest R&D project EA has ever taken on in regards of total Dollars that they anticipate to use getting the title to market.
And an investment of that type suggests a project that will take time, the BioWare-developed Star Wars MMO will not be launched before March 2011.
Brown said that they are not hoping it to dispatch in financial 2010, nor have they announced a particular ship date after that. They are purposely being unclear on the ship date.
However, EA thinks that it can excuse no money owing to all the aspects supporting The Old Republic's victory. Brown explicated that at one time, for MMOs, the kind of fiction, which has reverberated most largely is fiction based on swords and knights and sorcery, et al.
Brown added, "Star Wars is analogous to that -- instead of the swords, you have the lightsabers; instead of the knights you have the Jedi -- we think it's a fiction that does very well, we think it's a fiction that spans the decades".
