Pot doc to Become the First to lose His License
A state official has extended a confirmation this morning that the Colorado doctor facing accusations of recommending medical marijuana to 6 months pregnant women is the same doctor who was arrested this summer in a stealthy police sting operation.
According to the administrative action launched by the Colorado Medical Board this month, Dr. Manuel Aquino faces charges of prescribing marijuana to a 20-year-old woman who was six months pregnant prior to conducting a physical examination of her.
If the charges levied against him are proved correct, Dr. Manuel could be known as the first doctor in Colorado to lose his medical license for failing to extend standardized care to his patient.
Besides, this is not more for Aquino. Presently, he faces felony charges in Arapahoe County. The charges were imposed on him following a secret operation in which two undercover Aurora police officers were recommended marijuana without being offered a physical examination.
"Dr. Aquino believed the statements (the officers) were making and gave them, based on his professionalism and his subjective medical opinion, his advice", Aquino’s attorney, Rob Corry posted.
As per the new legislature laws passed this year, doctors are obliged to have "bona-fide" relationship with patients to whom they recommend marijuana.
