Australians Must Take the Flu Season Seriously

The flu season in Australia has started and most of the people have not taken the vaccine. Most of the citizens of the country do not take the flu season seriously. Health experts warn that people who think flu is not a big deal, may land in trouble if caught by the flu. About 50-70% people receive vaccination of flu and they are completely protected from it.

Flu can make a people severely ill for several days. Allen Cheng, an Associate Professor of Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology at Monash University said that flu could be fatal in some cases. Flu and flu-related pneumonia claim the lives of several hundred Australians every year.

He has advised the elderly people and those who are already suffering from health complications such as diabetes to take the vaccinations as they are at a higher risk of getting caught.

Children are highly susceptible to flu so parents of younger children must ensure that they have received the vaccination. Experts have also warned the people against the use of homeopathic treatments as they are unethical and not efficacious. Vaccine against the flu is the best treatment method which could prevent any sort of infections resulting from flu.
