Resveratrol Potential Source of Anti-Ageing Drugs

Good news for wine lovers: it has been revealed in a study that red wine strongly fights the ageing disease. It is not the first time when such things have been said for red wine. The drink has always been known for its positive impact on health.

Before coming up with the current claim, 30 researchers across the globe carried out a research. The study findings have been published in the journal Science. The researchers have found resveratrol to be quite beneficial in preventing ageing.

The researchers said resveratrol is able to activate human sirtuin protein, which is capable of preventing a number of age-old problems. The researchers unveiled that though resveratrol can activate the human sirtuin protein and many sirtuin-activating compounds (STACs), it can only be done under specific conditions.

It has been more than a decade now that medical researchers have been eying red wine as a great source of anti-ageing drugs. More or less, researchers have been focusing on resveratrol, a molecule found in red wine.

The study led by David Sinclair from the Harvard Medical School said it is one of the most important findings made in 10 years.
