UPEI’s Climate Research Lab offers Climate Data to Researchers
A new tool has been offered by the Climate Research Lab at the University of Prince Edward Island to researchers who need climate projections for anywhere on the planet.
The raw data was downloaded from 40 global climate models. It was then translated, analyzed, verified and converted into a dataset that can be effectively used by the researchers.
Dr. Adam Fenech is director of the Climate Research Lab. He said that it is the world's most advanced science. It will become a part of Fifth Assessment Report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change next year.
He said that they can provide projections to researchers that are monthly, seasonal, or annual over the next century.
Fenech is an expert in the area of climate change. He has worked extensively in the field ever since the IPCC First Assessment Report was released in 1988.
He was a Canadian representative during negotiating sessions on international climate. He wrote speeches on climate policies for Canadian environment ministers. Moreover, he authored several Canadian reports on climate change to the United Nations.
For more than 15 years, he taught at the University of Toronto and Smithsonian Institution. He now gives lectures regularly at various universities in Canada and around the globe.
