CEO Heading Samsung’s TV Business May be Asked to Oversee Its Mobile Business
A news report says that, Samsung Electronics may consider an overhaul of its management which could lead to the company's TVs and home appliances head of to oversee the company's mobile business, which is not doing so well. The reshuffling in its management could begin as soon as December.
Though the company has not reached a final decision yet, the report says that people familiar with the matter stated that, Boo-keun Yoon, the CEO who leads the consumer electronics business of Samsung, could be handed over the control of the company's mobile division.
Research firm IDC says that in the third quarter the market share of Samsung dropped to 23.8 percent from 32.5 percent noted one year back. Last week the company said that it plans to reduce the total number of models of its smartphones by approximately 25 to 30 percent in the coming year.
The company expects that the arrangement made in the new management will be able to help the company's mobile business react faster to the competition it faces in the smartphone market, which majorly comes from the low- cost gadgets produced by the Chinese manufacturers.
