Apple’s new ‘macOS Sierra’ version brings Siri to desktop; unfolds several other features
Apple's latest update to its operating system for the Mac is a significant update which brings about a cosmetic change to the software in the form of a new name, and also introduces a number of noteworthy new features.
The latest Mac OS update unfolds the 'macOS Sierra' version of the software. Apple's earlier versions of Mac operating system were called OS X versions.
One of the most striking features of macOS Sierra version is that it brings Apple's Siri digital assistant to the desktop. The Siri functionality can easily be accessed by Mac users with a keystroke, with a click on the menu bar, or by using the dock icon to invoke the feature.
Other than the addition of Siri to Mac computers, the new macOS Sierra version also enhances the Photos app with all the new iOS 10 features, including location- and date-based automatic albums, as well as a much more powerful search feature.
Moreover, the new Mac OS version also enables users to sync their Desktop and Documents folders with iCloud; and unfolds storage optimization powered by iCloud; Apple Pay mechanism on the web; picture-in-picture in Safari; tabs in more apps; and real-time collaboration in iWork apps; among hordes of other features.
