Apple releases new app for Apple TV --- ‘iBooks StoryTime’
On Friday, Apple announced that it is releasing a new app for Apple TV, to bring children's books to the TV's big screen. The new Apple TV app launched by Apple is called 'iBooks StoryTime.'
The new iBooks StoryTime app for Apple TV basically acts as an extension of the iBooks app on the iPad, iPhone, and macOS computers. The app -- which works on fourth-generation Apple TV devices that boast access to tvOS App Store -- has been designed in such a way that it helps children in following along interactive, animated stories on TV.
In announcing the new app for Apple TV, Apple said that the app is now available as a free download on the Apple TV App Store, but the titles will have to be purchased. At launch, Apple is offering the free download of a Read-Aloud title called 'Dora's Big Buddy Race Read-Along Storybook,' so that users can test the functionality.
Customers who want to purchase more titles can do so either from the StoryTime app itself, or from the iBookstore on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Describing the iBooks StoryTime app as a "different way to experience classic kids' books and discover new favorites" on the app's iTunes page, Apple said that all the app's exclusive titles, comprising read-aloud narration and stunning illustrations, transform Apple TV into "an engaging place for young readers to enjoy the stories they love."
