Kate Hudson has worn many hats throughout her illustrious career—Hollywood actress, singer, entrepreneur—but the role that truly defines her is that of a mother. And, if her recent reflections are any indication, she may not be ready to retire from that role just yet. The Almost Famous star, already a mother of three, recently joined Kylie Kelce on the podcast Not Gonna Lie, where the two bonded over the joys (and inevitable anxieties) of parenthood. With her signature candor and infectious enthusiasm, Hudson revealed that she still harbors the desire to expand her family, despite the evolving challenges of motherhood.

Motherhood: A Role She’s Not Ready to Wrap

“I could have so many kids,” Hudson confessed to Kelce, who is currently expecting her third child. “I even think about it right now. I’m like, ‘Am I totally done?’ Because I just can’t imagine being done.”

This sentiment isn’t just a fleeting thought for the actress—it’s a recurring theme. Hudson, 45, has long been vocal about her love for parenting, though she acknowledges that raising children is a complex, ever-evolving process.

“It gets a little scarier when you start to watch them go out into the world,” she admitted. “You want them to love themselves, to make good decisions, and you just hope they are okay.”

The Motherhood “Window”: Timing Is Everything

This isn’t the first time Hudson has entertained the idea of expanding her brood. During a 2020 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, she mused about the so-called “baby fever” that hits when children are still in their early, dependent years.

“Right now, Rani is at that age where I think, ‘I want another baby,’” she revealed. “But once she gets to 4 or 5, I start feeling like my life is back, and they’re in a groove. It’s weird… it’s like a window.”

It’s a sentiment many parents can relate to—the tug-of-war between savoring the baby years and embracing the return of personal freedom once children become more independent.

A Lifetime of Motherhood: From College Drop-Offs to Diaper Duty

Hudson’s experience with motherhood is nothing short of dynamic. As she reflected in a 2022 interview with Byrdie, she has been raising children throughout her entire adult life.

“I’ve got my 4-year-old and I’ve got a kid in college. And I don’t even know if I’m done yet. You know, I don’t have that answer yet.”

For someone as vivacious and full of life as Hudson, the idea of an “end” to motherhood in the active sense seems almost unfathomable.

A Family as Star-Studded as Her Career

Hudson’s family is as multifaceted as her career. She welcomed her first son, Ryder, in 2004 with her ex-husband, musician Chris Robinson. In 2011, she had her second son, Bingham, with former fiancé and Muse frontman Matt Bellamy. Then, in 2018, she welcomed daughter Rani with her fiancé, musician Danny Fujikawa.

With a life so beautifully intertwined with creativity, love, and motherhood, it’s no wonder Hudson continues to leave the door open for more. Whether she expands her family further or not, one thing is clear—Kate Hudson’s most cherished role isn’t one she plays on screen, but one she lives every day.
