Kia eyes new EV3 as potential game-changer in Europe’s challenging EV market
Kia Corporation, the South Korean multinational automobile manufacturer headquartered in Seoul, aims to revolutionize the highly-competitive European EV market with its new all-electric EV3 SUV. The Kia EV3 e-SUV is a comparatively affordable yet high-tech model, which has been designed and developed with an aim to boost the brand’s market share. In Korea, the launch of the EV3 has been very successful, which is evident from the fact that it garnered more than 10,000 reservations in merely 23 days after its launch. Now, the company is all set to launch this EV in Europe by early November.
The EV3 aims to make electric mobility not only attractive but also accessible to a broader audience. Last year, Kia topped Hyundai in terms of European sales. However, the Korean manufacturer is expecting a “bumpy” trajectory of EV sales in Europe. To manage the bumpy trajectory, the company has plans to keep combustion engines, hybrids, and all-electric vehicles in its European lineup.
The company has high hopes from the new all-electric EV3, which costs just over $30,000 in the Korean market. Once it hits the European countries, Kia expects its low-cost to boost its market share. The Kia EV3, officially introduced in October last year, is part of the brand’s new affordable electric car lineup. According to the manufacturer, the Kia EV3 takes the best features of the flagship Kia EV9 e-SUV and compresses it into a more compact and cheaper package.
In Korea, the Kia EV3 starts at approx. $30,700 (KRW 42.08 million). With available incentives, the price falls to approx. $29,200 (KRW 39.95 million). Kia Corp. Vice President (VP) Won-Jeong Jeong described the new low-cost electric car as a “game changer” in the EV home.
Moving ahead, Kia will add new EVs such as the EV2, EV3, and EV4 to its electric lineup, which already has the EV9, EV6, and EV5.
The Kia EV3 is more than just a new addition to the brand’s electric lineup. It is a strategic move to capture the growing demand for affordable EVs in the European region. With a competitive price and remarkable range, the EV3 is positioned to become a game changer in the market. As the South Korean brand navigates the challenges of the EV transition, the EV3 e-SUV represents an important step forward demonstrating the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability by offering EVs with a compelling blend of affordability and advanced features.
