Fujitsu to buy Siemens AG’s 50% stake in their PC Joint Venture for $ 567 million

Japanese electronics conglomerate Fujitsu Ltd has informed that it will acquire Industrial conglomerate Siemens AG's 50 percent stake in their PC joint venture for 450 million euros ($567 million), aiming to boost its presence in Europe.

Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC), which makes personal computers and laptops, was established in October 1999 as a 50-50 joint venture based in Maarssen, Netherlands. The venture employs more than 10,000 workers worldwide, among them 6,200 in Germany with plants in Augsburg, Munich, Paderborn and Soemmerda.

Circuit City to close 155 underperforming stores by year end

Circuit City, the 60-year-old Richmond, Va.-based consumer electronics chain has decided to close about 20% of its American stores in an effort to return to profitability.

The company, said that it would close 155 underperforming stores out of its more than 700 stores in 12 markets, including Phoenix and Atlanta, by year end, laying off about 17 percent of its domestic work force. However the company declined to specify the number of employees affected.

According to an estimate, the closures could put as many as 7,300 employees out of work in what is becoming one of the worst of times.

Household Gadgets can cause common cold

Recent study showed that touching household gadgets such as bathroom taps, refrigerator doors and doorknobs can cause a cold infection. Research team from Virginia University found that cold virus, also called rhinovirus can survive on household surfaces for up to two days, and these infected surfaces can transfer the virus and cause a cold infection.

Researchers tested ten sites in the homes of 30 people suffering from common cold. 42 percent of the surfaces in the homes studied showed rhinovirus traces.

Only 12% women distressed by low sex drive

A survey conducted on 31,581 women between the age group of 18 to 102 in US revealed that 44% of women had sexual problems. But the brighter side of the survey shows that only 12% of them are distressed by their condition.

43% of the women complained of sexual dysfunction; 39% experienced low levels of sexual desire; 26% had
arousal problems and 21% had difficulties with orgasm.

Fat women want more when it comes to sex

A study conducted by Dr Bliss Kaneshiro, an assistant professor at the School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii, and Oregon State University professor Marie Harvey shows that fat women have more sex than their thin counterparts.

The findings were based on data from the 2002 National Survey of Family Growth which studied the sexual behaviour of more than 7,000 women.

Dr Kaneshiro studied the relationship between body mass index and sexual behavior, including sexual orientation, age at first intercourse, number of partners, and frequency of intercourse.
