Led by industry stalwarts David D. Ross, Joseph J. Canfora, and Michael J. Gaughan III, Rocky Mountain Gaming made this strategic move in partnership with Minter Holdings LLC, and it is poised to reshape the landscape of Cripple Creek’s historic gaming district.
David J. Minter, the visionary at the helm of both Colorado-based properties, brings a treasure of experience and expertise to the table. The acquisition of the aforementioned property, pending final regulatory approvals and the issuance of a license by the Colorado Division of Gaming, highlights an important step forward in the evolution of these beloved establishments.
Rocky Mountain Gaming is a venture founded by three industry veterans, viz. Ross, Gaughan, and Canfora, who have a shared legacy of more than three decades as they have worked together at esteemed establishments like Affinity Gaming, Coast Casinos, and JW Marriott & Rampart Casino.
Joseph J. Canfora, an industry expert with more than four decades of experience in gaming and hospitality, initially expressed his surprise at the prospect of returning to the Cripple Creek market. However, upon reflection, he recognized the exclusive opportunity made accessible by Johnny Nolon’s and Colorado Grande to preserve the authentic Cripple Creek casino experience that locals cherish.
When asked for a comment on the development, Canfora said, “I was surprised when David and Michael first approached me with the opportunity to get back into the Cripple Creek market. After thinking about it, I realized that Johnny Nolon’s and Colorado Grande presented the opportunity to maintain the old Cripple Creek casino feel that the locals had grown accustomed to.”
